In his younger years, the shepherd boy David learned his identity while he was in the mountains away from all the noise, chaos and the chattering voices that wanted to tell him something else. God doesn't look at the surface, he looks at what's underneath. And underneath, David loved his God. And apparently God thought enough of that to make him the king of Israel.
