DAY 112 - LIGHT IN THE DARKNESS
MILANNA MARTILLARO, CREATIVE/PRODUCTION TEAM LEAD
“If I say, “Surely the darkness shall cover me, and the light about me be night,” even the darkness is not dark to you; the night is bright as the day, for darkness is as light with you. ” - Proverbs 2:3-5
Lately, I have felt surrounded by a lot of darkness. I don’t know about you, but in my world, things are still really heavy. I had a moment the other day where I felt so heavy laden by the things going on all around me. Loved ones I have who are hurting, the state of the world around me, it all sometimes still feels really dark.
And then God gave me a sweet reminder the other day, He reminded me of who he is and how He sees darkness. Psalm 139 reminds us that even the darkest night is nothing to our God. That the darkness of our world, the worst things ever, do not even hold a candle to the light of Jesus. He walked through death and came out unscathed, victorious and now even death itself doesn’t have any sort of hold on us.
Let that encourage you this week the way it encouraged me, young adult. That the darkness of this world cannot cover you. Luke 11 tells us that the light within us is not darkness, that the light that dwells inside of us is the Spirit of God Himself and no darkness shall ever overcome it.
So when things seems dark, when the night has come and you feel just enfolded in the weight of this fallen world, remember that none of that is too dark for the light of Jesus. Remember how he has called you to shine His light to the rest of the world, and that includes declaring it over yourself in these moments.
Because darkness is as light with Him.
