QUARANTINE READS
CONNOR GRIM, ASSOCIATE PASTOR & VOLUNTEER TEAM LEAD
If I had told you just a few short weeks ago that you would have the opportunity to stay at home, sit on your couch, not go to work and potentially get through every episode of The Office in a 3-day span, you would have thought I described the perfect staycation. While I’m not making light of our current situation at all this is, in fact, the circumstances we find ourselves in.
Be it quarantine, social distancing, lockdown whatever you want to call it, the best thing that we can do to help prevent the spread of this virus is to stay at home and keep a healthy distance from people. Easier said than done.
And while it might be tempting to take this time and catch up on every binge-worthy show in existence, this could also be an unexpected but invaluable time to grow spiritually as a Christian. So here’s what I’m suggesting. Put down the remote, grab a cup of coffee and crack open one of these books to take a few steps forward in your relationship with Jesus.
THE BOOKS
Dangerous Prayers - Craig Groschel
Prayer is an essential part of every person's relationship with God. So why is it so hard sometimes? In this book Craig Groschel lays out 3 simple but dangerous prayers that will take your prayer life and your relationship with God to a whole new level.

Celebration of Discipline - Richard Foster
Spiritual disciplines (things like prayer, worship, bible reading) help you grow with God in the same way lifting weights make you stronger. They are a means to a greater end. But spiritual disciplines aren’t just prayer, worship, and bible reading. There are many others and in this book you will explore 12 different disciplines to help you grow with God.

Beautiful Outlaw - John Eldridge
Too often I find myself looking at Jesus as this stoic being who just came here to accomplish His mission and peace out. It’s easy to forget that not only was Jesus fully God but He was also fully man. This book helps look more on who Jesus was and brings you into the characteristics of Jesus; His joy, His generosity, His sassiness, and, ultimately, His love.

Prayer - Richard Foster
This book has really helped me in my walk with Jesus as a young adult. Prayer used to be something that was really hard for me to get into and grow in. But this book helps explore many different kinds of prayer and helps give you practical ways to put them into practice. 10/10 recommend!

Loveology - John Mark Comer
This book is a staff favorite! John Mark Comer has a way of taking complex things and making them feel accessible and easy to understand. In this book he breaks down love and relationships in a way that only he can and ultimately points us back to Jesus.
